Christmas for Muslim: Can we celebrate?

For some Muslim  celebration of Christmas is not necessary. Even in Indonesia context, there are still many people do not agree with Muslim greet "Marry Christmas" to Christian friends, because they believe that by saying Christmas meaning that she or he believe to the truth of Christian teaching. It looks very simplistic.

I will argue that celebration of Christmas for Muslim is not sinful. There is no a certain text mentioning that we cannot celebrate Christmas. Take this in simple way that celebration of Christmas for Muslim has many meanings. First, to you can celebrate Christmas to show your solidarity for Christian brother and sisters, who are now in the disadvantage position as minority in Indonesia. To show our solidarity, we can celebrate Christmas  in order to give them strength and new belief that they are part of Indonesia.

Secondly, there is also one thing we often forget that Jesus is The prophet Isa. We believe to Prophet Isa meaning that we celebrate Christmas to respect Isa Almasih. Meaning that we can celebrate the birth of Prophet Isa Almasih. If you think with this reason, we still doubt to celebrate Christmas, then you can just silent, but do not provoke other people to not celebrate Christmas. Because what you believe on forbidden to greet or celebrate Christmas may create wide disparity among Muslim and non Muslim. If Celebration of Christmas can push strong solidarity, unity for Indonesia people, why this should stop?
